Italy Day 4 – Umbria
We left the Collomedia resort and drove roads better than tail of the dragon! It is better because there is minimal to non-existent traffic.
Early start! Today’s roads were unbelievable! Switchbacks and hairpin turns were the order of the day. Nausea was real as cars shifted back and forth with so many turns where the steering wheel went back and forth-I decided to count the turns in 10 minutes of driving and gave up at 200!
We stopped along the way for our usual morning Cappucinos or water and bio-breaks.
Lunch was at a farm to table place and we are being well looked after. A 3 course lunch plus desserts- all local items.
We drove through breathtaking villages and towns with no one leading a solo tour and UMN taking over the lead when a comms issue cropped up. We used Google maps and having a data plan is very helpful. They also use What’s App to share routes and communicate with the group.
We arrived at our resort in Tuscany which will be our home for the next 3 nights!
Tom Montour has a new name, The Rhinestone Cowboy, after he left all his underwear back at last resort. There may have been alcohol involved 🙂 .
The only replacements have rhinestones…some bling.
Speed limits still remain only a suggestion. Smooth is fast and when the roads are narrow and it feels really fast!
Tomorrow – San Gimignano.
Ciao!

Today we started in the Tuscany region and traveled cross-country on our way back to Rome. About an hour into the journey, we stopped for our first bio-break when a message came over the radio: “I think I left my phone at the hotel.” The voice, of course, belonged to the recently underwear-less Tom Montor. […]
